About

Lara Vejrup Ostan (she/her) is a choreographer and dancer based between Copenhagen, Denmark and Ljubljana, Slovenia.
Through my work I challenge capitalist logics embedded in movement and world making. I approach choreography and dance as sociopolitical practices; body-ing, timing and spacing as constituting materials of perception, influencing how we imagine, create and recreate worlds. Through my work I engage with specific contexts e.g.; roads / driving / truck drivers in DRIVER vol I and DRIVER vol II, migration / care workers / agricultural workers in Movement for All, homes / staticness / hikkomori in All these roads just for you, using somatopoetic strategies to document and elevate Realities. My work materialises through different formats; black box performances, choreographic treatments, a performance for 3 audiences in a car, a book as a dance performance and more. They have been presented at venues such as Dansehallerne (DK), Sydhavn Teater (DK), Ravnedans Festival (NO) and implemented through different EU projects (Creative Europe as well as Erasmus+).

I am currently pursuing my MFA in Choreography at the Danish National School of Performing Arts (to be obtained 2026). Since 2020 I have worked as a dance facilitator for persons with disabilities, artistic research mentor, dramaturgical assistant and performer. I am chairwoman of VA11a interdisciplinary creative studio in Copenhagen, as well as co-founder of KOMMA Performance Productions, a member driven cooperative, which supports the development, production and circulation of independent dance works.
