Lara Vejrup Ostan (she/her) is a choreographer based between Copenhagen, Denmark and Ljubljana, Slovenia.
Through my work I challenge capitalist logics embedded in movement.
I approach choreography and dance as sociopolitical practices; body-ing, timing and spacing as constituting materials of perception and creation, influencing how we imagine, create and recreate worlds. In my work I engage with specific contexts e.g.; roads / driving / truck drivers in DRIVER vol I and DRIVER vol II, migration / care workers / agricultural workers in Movement for All, homes / staticness / hikkomori in All these roads just for you, using somatopoetic strategies to document and elevate Realities. My work materialises through different formats; black box performances, choreographic treatments, a performance for 3 audiences in a car, a book as a dance performance and more. They have been presented at venues such as Dansehallerne (DK), Sydhavn Teater (DK), Ravnedans Festival (NO) and implemented through different EU projects.

Alongside my artistic work I am a dance facilitator for professionals in the performing arts field, as well as adults with developmental disabilities. I am co-founder of KOMMA Performance Productions, a member driven cooperative, which supports the development, production and circulation of independent dance works and challenges normative production systems and co-run
VA11a - and interdisciplinary creative space in Copenhagen.
